VANCOUVER FASHION WEEK FW2018
The FW2018 ‘In The Cocoon’ was showcased at Vancouver Fashion Week in March, 2018.
The collection was inspired by an internal journey the designer experienced while isolating herself in her inner thoughts to get into deeper layers of her existence. She used the well-known metaphor of the caterpillar’s transformation into a butterfly, while rediscovering inner beauty. The first couple of looks are equivalents of the caterpillar phase, leather pieces with horizontal sections reminding the viewer of a caterpillar’s anatomy. They suddenly one by one turn into darker colors while executing the casing represented by silicone cocoons, which absorb more and more of the little being. However in the end she is performing her own rebirth as a wonderful butterfly free of worries, bright white.
Returning designer Viktoria Tisza once again showcased her incredible expertise in material innovation.

SILICONE BUTTERFLY
Viktoria has been experimenting with making her collections of silicone rubber for several years before this collection. Usually she applies this versatile material to create smaller scale pieces, swimwear, separate bottoms and tops, this is the first time she dived into creating a large-scale piece entirely made of silicone rubber. The success in the creation of the silicone butterfly was also the foundation of the later on created yellow dress in the collection S/S2019 ‘SPLASH’.
